The four steps: How to run your tasting
(non-video option)

Works with two people or ten. Set aside about an hour. You don't need to know anything about honey to do this.

1

Set up

  • Open your kit (but don’t peek under the labels — that’s the answer key

  • Give everyone a tasting card, lay out the spoons (you can use ice block sticks too) (you’ll need 5 per person) and a pen.

  • Place the five jars in the middle of the table.

  • Don’t peel the black labels yet — no spoilers!

2

Taste & Create

  • Each jar’s colored teardrop matches a row on your tasting card.

  • Start anywhere — everyone can begin with a different color and pass the jars around.

  • Take a small spoonful, then write down what your sense find. Flavor, texture, smell, a memory, a joke, anything goes. There are no wrong answers outside of the actual honey guess.

3

The Reveal

  • Once everyone has tried all five, peel the black labels back.

  • Scan the QR code to see where your honey came from, meet the beekeeper who harvested it, and read the test results for that batch. This is our favorite part.

  • Compare cards to see who guessed which honeys right.

Crown your winners

  • Count up how many correct guesses each person had and crown your winner. If it's a tie, the winner is whoever wrote the most detailed, accurate and creative descriptions.

  • Email us a photo of the winning tasting card to honeytasting@manukora.com for a chance to win a special prize. Don’t forget to let us know which honey was the crowd favorite.

That's your tasting done. You've just tasted five different parts of New Zealand. Every jar took a chunk of awesome bees their very cool beekeepers time this year, and we're glad it made it to your table. Thanks for being part of this.

Happy holidays from all of us in New Zealand.
