Ultra Active Honey from New Zealand’s Far North
Hidden deep within the Far North of New Zealand lies a place known only to a few — a rugged coastal site our beekeeper Jake calls Spot X. This remote landscape produces some of the most powerful Mānuka honey we’ve ever seen.
In late October 2023, a stretch of hot, humid days followed by an approaching storm sent the bees into overdrive, gathering nectar at an extraordinary pace. What followed was one of the most concentrated harvests we’ve drawn from this location.

This honey comes from a secret place in Bay of Islands that we call Spot X — a rugged, remote site owned by an old friend I often go diving with. It’s always special when a harvest from there turns out this good. The area always produces exceptional highly active Manuka, we don’t always get much from it, but in late October 2023 when I harvested it, everything lined up perfectly.
After a stretch of hot, humid days and with a big storm looming, the bees went into overdrive, bringing in nectar like crazy. The result is this powerful, high-grade Mānuka honey with real bio-active grunt. It’s got a bold, slightly medicinal flavour that tells you straight away, this is the good stuff.
